THE ALOHA SHOW from filmmaker and beachboy Kimokai Kekahuna. From the first beachboy Duke Kahanamoku to Uncle Tommy the famous Waikiki Beach Boys, serving on the beach sharing the Aloha through the magic of learning to surf, play ukulele, sleep on the beach, drink Heineken at happy hour, riding the waves everyday in a canoe… watermen on the world’s most famous beach.. Where have all the beachboys gone… dropping like flies. Here is the LAST STAND for Aloha. Big Kahuna says that surfing and outrigger canoe racing should be Olympic sports, always held in Hawaii in the winter when the big waves come. This is Polynesian culture and extreme sport. The Waikiki Beach Boys are responsible for the preservation of surfing during the decimation of Hawaiian culture by the onslaught by American occupation. Born poor the Waikiki Beach boys were rich in friendships and kept their mana dignity living what is a life envied by all. Director Kimokekahuna shares his private spot to have morning coffee, welcome the sun god and read the morning paper… during the endless summer of love..
